Trenchless Sewer Repair
Sewer inspection and repair is one of the most important aspects of home maintenance. Whether you are renting or buying a house that is old or new, or if you’ve lived in the same house for decades, well maintained, and timely sewer repairs are necessary for peace of mind and high property value. At 45th Parallel Plumbing, we are experts at trenchless sewer inspection and repair.
What is trenchless sewer inspection and repair?
It is a method of fixing sewer problems without having to dig up indoor flooring and excavating the outdoors to locate and fix a problem. Trenchless inspection of sewers is a hassle-free procedure that involves inserting a high-resolution camera mounted on a flexible cable into the sewers and maneuvering it around the lines to take a look at what’s inside.
The camera wirelessly transmits images to a monitor above ground. A trained technician examines the images for blockages and potential or existing holes, cracks, and disjointedness. If not caught in time, these problems can lead to leaks, flow-backs, and other nasty surprises.
How is a problem in the sewers fixed?
Once our technician has identified a problem in need of repair, our expert technicians locate the exact spot above ground with the help of signals emitted by the underground camera and a handheld device. A small hole is dug vertically into the ground to access the problem spot in the sewer pipe.
Depending on what the problem is, the skilled technicians from 45th Parallel Plumbing will decide if the sewers need lining or replacement. If the pipe itself is all right but has developed small holes and cracks, it is lined, which is when a resin is blown or pulled through the section that needs sealing. Once set in place, the resin hardens rapidly and plugs the hole or crack so the pipe is sealed once again.
This method of repairing pipes is known as cured-in-place piping (CIPP) But sometimes a pipe has many joints and turns or is too far gone for cured-in-place-piping. Here, the technician will decide to fix the problem through pipe bursting.
This is a procedure where a bursting head is pulled through a pipe and it fractures the old pipe outwards while pulling the new pipe into place behind the bursting head, leaving an all-new pipe in its place.
Why should you opt for trenchless pipe repair?
The most obvious reason is the sheer convenience and practicality of this method of sewer repair. It is virtually non-destructive and it is quick. We don’t need to tear up your flooring or yard to locate and then repair sewers.
The cost of this repair is usually lower than traditional pipe repairs, and best of all, the resin used to fix sewers is almost indestructible – it can last up to 50 years with no deterioration at all.
